Description

The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) is an interdisciplinary research centre that promotes fundamental research in mathematics and applies mathematical methods to solve problems in a variety of fields. The members of CMS are active in numerous research areas, namely Statistics and Data Science, Financial Mathematics, Operations Research and Discrete Mathematics. Besides, the members involve actively in the multi-disciplinary projects as well as joint-publications, by forming a close collaborative linkage with external collaborators. In addition, some members provide professional consultancy and scientific training, with the ultimate goal to ensure that the knowledge of mathematical sciences and the required skills remain useful, practical and relevant at all times.

 - Motto of CMS -

“Be professional and caring to the community
in the pursuit of research excellence”

Objectives

  1. To engage mathematicians and researchers from various disciplines in tackling fundamental problems that requiring significant mathematical inputs.
  2. To provide a platform for researchers to interact on the research related to the emerging areas of mathematics as well as their applications.
  3. To provide consultancy in the relevant areas of mathematical sciences.
  4. To train young mathematicians to carry out impactful research especially for multidisciplinary projects.

Preface

Welcome to the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS). This research centre is dedicated to members who are interested to work on mathematical and statistical related researches. The research area of CMS members includes Statistics and Data Science, Financial Mathematics, Operations Research and Discrete Mathematics. To date, CMS has 48 active members including ordinary and associate members. In line with the targeted goal of CMS which is to assure research excellency, CMS members always work hard, hand-in-hand, in research publication and postgraduate supervision. Besides, members also involve actively in multi-disciplinary projects as well as joint-publications, by forming a close collaborative linkage with external collaborators. Additionally, some members provide professional consultancy and scientific training, with the ultimate goal to ensure that the knowledge of mathematical sciences and the required skills remain useful, practical and relevant at all times. With the efforts and continuous support from the members, I believe that CMS will gain national and international recognitions as an active research centre that is active in providing contribution to society and industry. On behalf of CMS, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who have contributed towards the growth of CMS. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of our centre members if you wish to link up with our research project. Looking forward to your participation. Thank you.
